Fishy beginnings on the road to Gundagai Print
Thursday, 17 September 2009
It's been a rejuvenating winter and I've thought things through, written songs and have got some radical moves planned for the next phase of my art.

This weekend I'm off to Gundagai with my old friends Greg & Caroline from Jigzag. We're in the final stages of pre-production for album number 5 so these next few gigs are your last chance to have your say about what we record. Sadly I ran out of time to update their dates in my own gig calendar but I'll try and get it done over the weekend. Meanwhile check out all the details at www.jigzag.com .

In the wider scheme of things, You and Me Vol.2 unfolds slowly, like most worth waiting for things, and I've started a new trio inspired by the work of bands like Nickel Creek and Union Station. It features Robbie Long and the wonderful dobro playing of Pete Fidler, and we call ourselves Jimmy the Fish!

I hope you get hooked like me!...
to autumn... Print
Wednesday, 10 June 2009
It's been a year of intense changes for me and some of my nearest and dearest so I've decided that hibernation is in order. Saws need to be sharpened, songs need to be finished. Gardens need to be pruned and weeded and long luxurious afternoons of cooking or cleaning or painting need to occur in my own house.

So I have only one more gig left for the autumn, and it will take place appropriately at my local bakery-  Redbeard in the main street of Trentham.

Thanks for your support and you'll hear from me again when I emerge from my cocoon...

Happy New 2009! Print
Monday, 12 January 2009
Home at last after more travels, I'm updating blogs & paying bills & unpacking a very dirty van. My January looks quiet which is just what I need to plan the new year. So many plans starting to unfurl & still a lot of unknown.

I've started "You & Me" Vol.2 already with a duet with bluegrass guitarist Quentin Fraser on an old song of mine 'Cactus'. Jigzag will be at the Mount Beauty Muster & Wintermoon, & are planning to tour QLD in May & possibly Tassie & regional Victoria in the spring. My Frencham Smith plans for 2009 are still veiled but we kick off in grand style by playing our favourite room in Australia "Tilleys' in March. My new function band The Honeycatz is preparing to record & ready to rock some party dance floors & Devlish Mary is brewing up some new tunes for The Brunswick Music Festival & our first trip to Western Australia in April to Fairbridge Folk Festival.

But for now I'm going to slowly move through my house & my life & put things back in place.

Happy New Year!
