abandoned microwave undies Print

Yes, I know, I'm a complete wimp! An entire festival pulses around me & here I am cowering in an air-conditioned space in the guise of writing a journal entry.

I'm here at the Nannup Folk Festival in WA where I'm performing with Fred Smith & it's a little scorcher of a weekend. They are making us earn our fee too, with four concert spots & two workshops one of which took place this morning & included Fred doing a very energetic version of an ecumenical hokey pokey in Papua New Guinean pidgin. I really should be planning my bass workshop & i will soon. I'll also be rocking out the beatles show tonight & played a nice set of piano blues with Paul Gioia yesterday. Life is good.

Fred & I are also deep in recording sessions for our second album together. (Provisionally entitled 'Love Thongs").  The festival (with all it's frenetic activity) has been comparatively restful. We are putting down 15 songs; 7 of which we only played in public for the first time this weekend. We couldn't have picked a better couple of house concerts to introduce them though. Our premier show was for the now famous Bicton Mafia & hosted by John & Jeans house. I should never have referred to it on the newsletter as 'Johnno's house- forgive me Jean! We then set off for more of Anne-Marie's hospitality in Albany & it's going to be hard to leave W.A...

'And so what of the abandoned microwave undies?' I hear you ask. Well it was only the funniest sight I've seen in a while- fred with his hand washed jocks microwaving them dry in desperation (only a few feet from a dryer, mind you- why can't men see what's right in front of them?) only to leave them behind the next morning anyhow!

Lotsa love,

~liz
